Microbiology is an important service in Pathology Department

In order for the clinician to obtain the best possible diagnostic services from the microbiological laboratory it is necessary to provide satisfactory material for examination. Inadequate or poorly collected specimens will produce incorrect and meaningless result, which can lead to improper or harmful course of therapy and management of patients. The use of inappropriate specimen containers or delay in dispatch of the specimens to the microbiological laboratory may render the examination unsatisfactory due to the growth of contaminants or the death of more delicate organisms
